The angular forms of the design are inspired by the sawtoothed rooflines of several post-industrial buildings in the area, the prairie style motifs seen on bridges over the Yahara River, and stained glass windows referencing the work of famous local architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The colors draw from the gold dolomite stone seen at Breese Stevens Field and throughout Madison, as well as burnt sienna and green accents in many buildings at the university's campus and across the metro area.
